Waste oil and petroleum residue treatment unit to be installed at the port of Kribi

Valued at 3.2 billion CFA francs, this waste oil and petroleum residue treatment unit will be installed at the port of Kribi.

The Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK) is preparing to welcome in the coming months, a treatment unit for used oil and petroleum residues.

This is the substance of a sales contract signed on March 16, 2021, between the French company Ecoslops, specializing in the transformation of oil residues from maritime transport into fuels and light bitumen, and the Cameroonian company Valtech Energy.

Evaluated at 3.2 billion CFA francs, this unit will treat at least 7,000 tonnes of waste oil and petroleum residues per year, thereby helping to reduce imports of energy products such as fuel oil by at least 10%.

Cameroon generates around 70,000 tonnes of used oil per year (trucks, buses, cars, etc.) and also imports fossil energy products, in particular fuel oil for its industry.

Delivery of the unit is scheduled for October 2021 for start-up before the end of the year.

It is conditional on the establishment of financing with the historical banks of the SCIN group, which have shown a strong interest in the project, specifies a press release published by Ecoslops.
